Subject: Say NO to Drugs
Hi kids,
Exercise
and physical activity are an important part of my day and I hope an important part
of yours. A regular routine of
keeping fit will keep you in good physical, mental, and
emotional shape.
Unfortunately,
there are substances out there that have the exact opposite effect of keeping
fit. I’m talking about Drugs.
Drugs
can prevent your body and brain from growing properly. You
won’t be able to think
clearly and you’ll feel slow and sluggish.
People take drugs for different reasons. Some
take drugs because they think it’s cool or because they’re trying to fit
in. Some people
take drugs to help them play sports better. Some to stay awake when what they
really
need is a good night’s sleep. And others do it for the temporary “high.”
None
of these reasons are good. It’s not cool to take drugs and you won’t be
helping your body
in any way by taking them. You
don’t need drugs to experience a “high”. You’ll feel much
better from a “natural high” like playing a sport, reading a good book, or
riding your
bike. Doing what you love to do will give you a safe and long lasting
“natural high.”
If others want you to take a drug, just tell them you don’t
want to. If they give you reasons
why they think you should, be strong and stick to what you know is right.
Drugs will
have you making bad decisions, which can put you in more danger. When
you do drugs
you are not in control, the drugs are. The
best way to stay in control is to say NO to
Drugs. You’ll be able to live a
happy and healthy life and you’ll feel good about yourself.
Don’t worry about fitting in because you will have plenty of friends
that will like
you just the way you are. Real friends won’t ask you to do anything that
will hurt you.
